Ensuring Quality of Higher Education in Tertiary Level: An Inferential Study on Private Universities of Bangladesh
Abstract
This inferential study examines the critical factors influencing the quality of higher education at the tertiary level, with a specific focus on the private university sector in Bangladesh. As the number of private institutions continues to grow, ensuring academic excellence and institutional accountability has become a paramount concern for stakeholders. The research utilizes inferential statistical methods to analyze the relationship between various institutional variables—such as faculty qualifications, research output, infrastructural facilities, and student support services—and the overall perceived quality of education. Through empirical data collection from multiple private universities, the study highlights both the progress made and the systemic challenges faced in maintaining global standards. The findings suggest that while private universities have significantly increased access to higher education, continuous monitoring by regulatory bodies and a stronger emphasis on research culture are essential for long-term sustainability. The paper concludes by providing policy recommendations for university administrators and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh to foster an environment of continuous quality improvement in the private higher education landscape.
