Detailed Biography of Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan
1. Academic Journey and Expertise
Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan is an eminent historian and researcher whose academic foundation was built at the University of Dhaka. He completed his B.A. (Honours) in 1980 and M.A. in 1981 from the Department of Islamic History and Culture. To broaden his analytical perspective, he pursued a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the same university, which he successfully obtained in 2002.
2. Career Progression
- Early Career: Started as a Lecturer at the University of Chittagong in November 1983.
- Dhaka University Tenure: Joined as Assistant Professor in 1991, promoted to Professor on January 1, 2010.
- Current Status: Currently serving LPR period, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence.
3. Major Research Areas
- Political & Administrative History: Arab Muslim administration (Prophet, Khulafa-e-Rashidun, Umayyad, and Abbasid periods).
- Art and Archaeology: Specialist in Muslim Art, Architecture, and Numismatics.
- Sufi Heritage: Documenting "Mazar Culture" in Bangladesh (Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rajshahi).
