Abstract
The poultry industry is a vital component of the livestock sector in Bangladesh, playing a significant role in poverty reduction and providing protein requirements for the growing population. This research provides a critical observation of the existing marketing structure and identifies strategic pathways for the future expansion of the poultry business. Rabiul Karim Mridul, as a co-author, explores the complexities of the supply chain, focusing on the roles of hatcheries, wholesalers, and retailers. The study highlights significant challenges, including price volatility, lack of standardized marketing channels, and the dominance of middlemen who often skew profit margins away from small-scale farmers. Through empirical analysis, the paper suggests that market expansion requires improvements in cold storage facilities, disease control management, and direct linkages between producers and urban markets. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the importance of government policy support and credit facilities to encourage sustainable growth in rural areas. By addressing these structural bottlenecks, the study provides a roadmap for enhancing the efficiency of the poultry market, ensuring food security and economic stability for thousands of households involved in the industry.
