- B.Sc.(Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) -

Objective:

The objective of the B.Sc. (Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program is to provide graduates with the durable knowledge necessary to become future leaders in the rapidly evolving discipline of Computer Science as well as in other computer-related fields. The program has been designed to expose each graduate to the challenges and research problems involved in creating new kinds of computer software. Students will gain the ability to analyze the local and global impacts of information technology on individuals, organizations and society and apply the earned knowledge to those issues. Following the trends of universities in the developed world, the CSE curriculum includes some selected interdisciplinary subjects. These subjects form a general body of knowledge in order to prepare the students to adjust to the multidimensional problems and issues of the real world.

Entry Requirements

  • The students with S.S.C. and H.S.C. with science background under CGPA system must have at least a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in both the exams separately.
  • The students with O-Level and A-Level must have an average grade of B.
  • The students with Diploma must have at least a CGPA of 2.5
  • The students with S.S.C. and H.S.C.  with science background must have at least 2nd Division in both the exams separately

Applicants should also fulfill any other conditions specified by the authorities.

Admission

Admission into B.Sc. (Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering program is on a competitive basis. Candidates are selected for admission on the basis of past academic records, a written test and a viva examination.

English Language Requirement

Proficiency in English is essential to pursue the CSE program. Those who are admitted to the CSE program will be required to submit documents about their level of proficiency in English. This requirement may be satisfied by a TOEFL score of at least 550 or equivalent in examinations such as ELTS or IELTS. For those students who cannot satisfy the above requirements, the university will organize a set of four Intensive English Language courses in the first semester of their studies. Students will have to pass this course with at least a `C' grade before they are allowed to join the main CSE program. Students failing to achieve a `C' grade in the first attempt will be allowed only one more semester to improve their grades in English.

Graduation Requirements

For a B.Sc. (Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering degree, a student will have to complete a four-year integrated program with at least 159 credit hours, out of which 93 credit hours are core courses and 24 credit hours are interdisciplinary courses. A student must obtain at least a `C' grade to pass any individual course. Diploma Engineers will have to complete 132 credit hours to earn the B.Sc. (Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering degree.
