Mohammad Shakil Mahmud is an accomplished individual with a strong academic background and extensive experience in the field of mathematics. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at UPM Malaysia, where he is actively engaged in advanced research and scholarly pursuits.

Mahmud's academic journey began with his MPhil in Financial Mathematics, which he successfully completed at the prestigious University of Gothenburg and the University of Chalmers in Sweden in 2017. Prior to that, he obtained his M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics and B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, in 1999 and 1997 respectively. Notably, he achieved exceptional academic performance during his M.Sc. studies, securing first-class second position in his program.

After completing his MPhil, Mahmud embarked on a teaching career and joined the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong as an instructor in CSE Dept in 2018. Recognized for his expertise and passion for mathematics, he was also appointed as a faculty member at the Bangladesh Open University in 2019. His role as an instructor has allowed him to impart his knowledge and inspire students in the field of mathematics and Computer Science.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to academic growth, Mahmud has actively participated in conferences held in Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Malaysia. These conferences provided him with valuable opportunities to engage with fellow researchers, exchange ideas, and present his research findings. As a result of his diligent work and insightful contributions, Mahmud's research has been published in reputable national and international journals, highlighting the significance of his work in the mathematical community.

Beyond his academic achievements, Mahmud is a respected member of professional organizations such as the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). These memberships reflect his dedication to staying abreast of advancements in his field and fostering connections with other professionals in the mathematical sciences.

Outside of his academic pursuits, Mahmud actively volunteers his time and skills to make a positive impact on society. He is involved as a volunteer member of esteemed organizations such as Oxfam, Red Crescent Society, and Amnesty, demonstrating his commitment to humanitarian causes and social welfare.

Currently, Mahmud holds the esteemed position of Head of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, where he oversees the academic and administrative aspects of the department. As a leader, he brings his extensive knowledge, experience, and passion to guide and mentor both faculty and students, fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.
