Program: BSS (HONS) IN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS

Objective

 

The objective of the BSS in Government and Politics program is to acquaint students with the basic concepts and ideas of government and politics to equip them with sound foundations and knowledge in the discipline. Besides the core courses, there will be some interdisciplinary courses that will prepare the students to face the multidimensional issues of the contemporary world.

 

 Entry Requirement

 

The entry requirement for the BSS (Hons) in Government and Politics program is a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), A-Level, Alim, or any other equivalent level of education recognized by the relevant authority. Applicants should also fulfill any other conditions specified by the authority.

 

 Admission

The BSS (Hons) in the Government and Politics program is competitive. Candidates are selected for admission based on past academic records, written tests, and/or a viva examination.

Semester System

Asian University of Bangladesh uses the semester system. There are two semesters in an academic year. Each semester is 6 months in duration.

The Credit Hour System

AUB uses the credit hour system in its academic programs. Each academic program requires a certain number of credits to complete. Unless otherwise specified, each course is of 3 credit hours.

 Graduation Requirements

A student will have to complete a four-year integrated program with 120 credit hours (40 courses) out of which 90 credit hours (30 courses) consist of core courses while the remaining 30 credit hours (10 courses) are from a general interdisciplinary body of knowledge. A student must obtain a `C' grade to pass any course.

 

Course Load

The minimum number of credit hours that a student must take per semester is 18. This may be relaxed only with special permission from the appropriate authority.
