Jahid Hasan Sheikh is a dedicated academic currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Government and Politics at the Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB) since September 2024. His academic expertise lies in the areas of local governance, geopolitics, and international relations. Sheikh’s research and teaching are informed by a critical understanding of governance structures, with a focus on improving public service delivery and exploring the dynamics of international political relations and Local government.

Sheikh completed his Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Government and Politics from Jahangirnagar University, where he completed a thesis on the role of Zila Parishads in public service delivery in Bangladesh. His academic work emphasizes the significance of decentralization in governance and its implications for effective service delivery, contributing to ongoing scholarly debates on local governance reform.

In addition to his academic role, Jahid Hasan has extensive research experience as a Research Assistant with institutions such as the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Development Research Initiative (dRi), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). His research has focused on field data management, qualitative data analysis, and the intersection of governance with social and environmental issues.

He is also actively engaged in academic leadership, having held key positions in student organizations such as the Government & Politics Debating Club and the Government & Politics Sports Club at Jahangirnagar University. His extracurricular involvement demonstrates his strong leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills, which complement his academic pursuits.

His current research interests include the role of local governments in sustainable development, with a particular focus on achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sheikh is committed to furthering his academic career by contributing to both scholarly discourse and practical solutions for governance challenges in Bangladesh and beyond.
